Job Description

As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for translating strategies and desired capabilities for a single business unit/product related program into the design and development of cross-functional multiplatform systems and technical capabilities, within the enterprise context (EA Goals, EA Principles, EA Guardrails/Reference Architectures, EA Standards). The solution architect contributes to enterprise architecture planning and execution for QRG (Qurate Retail Group).

Responsibilities:
● Build and integrate information systems to meet the company’s needs
● Assess the systems architecture currently in place and work with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it
● Resolve technical problems as they arise
● Provide supervision and guidance to development teams
● Continually research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed
● Inform various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented
● Assess the business impact that certain technical choices have
● Provide updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets
● Demonstrates expert-level knowledge and deep understanding across multiple areas in your domain
● Strong understanding of the architecture guardrails and reference architectures, and contributes to their development
● Understands key organizational strategies and goals, and factors this knowledge into planning for the future and the design of applications roadmaps to support QRQ’s future success
● Utilizes thorough business knowledge to understand desired business outcomes and how changes to current technology support and affects the business
● Evaluates new technologies for their ability to achieve desired business outcomes
● Possesses a solid understanding of the retail industry and industry trends.
● Understands the impacts of regulations, laws, and company policies, standards, and procedures on their role
● Scope & Complexity, Works across complex and unique projects and problems of varied scope, typically with cross-domain impact
● Problem Support & Resolution, Work with engineering teams to drive resolution of highly complex escalated issues requiring the analysis of multiple solutions. Drive communication to IT leadership
● Technical Communications ability, leverages internal networks and shares knowledge effectively with other team members across all of the Technology organization, including senior leadership
● Client/External Communications ability, Works directly with product managers and is seen as an SME within IT; proactively manages client expectations and ensures prompt and complete client service
● Business Design ability, Partners with Engineers & Product Managers to design and deliver business capabilities & solutions. Leads in the analysis of vendor proposals and the evaluation of build versus buy considerations.
● Leads the development of architecture runways required across projects within a domain and provides day-to-day technical leadership/ guidance to the delivery team
● Supervision, Functions independently and partners with others to set direction. Work in progress is reviewed on an exceptional basis
● Escalation, Collaborates with engineers and system architects to drive resolution of escalated issues
● Guiding Others, Fosters team collaboration, encouraging contributions from system architects and engineers

Required Skills and Experiences

Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience ● 10+ years of related experience preferred

Location
● Kaihinmakuhari (Headquarters)
※JR Keio Line, 30 mins train ride from Tokyo station (Direct Line), 3 mins walking from Kaihinmakuhari station
